Introduction to The School of Business
The School of BusinessatGuangxi University was formerly known as the Economics Department of Guangxi University, which was established in 1937. Mr. Li Da, a representative of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, a renowned thinker, politician, and philosopher, served as the first department head. A number of renowned scholars, including Shi Fuliang, Zhang Renjia, and Xue Muqiao, taught here. In 2021, the School of Business was established to develop the first-level discipline of business administration and corresponding undergraduate majors.
Currently, the school consists of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Enterprise Management, and Tourism Management. It offers three national-level first-tier undergraduate majors in accounting, business administration, and tourism management. The school also holds doctoral and master's degree authorization points in the first-level discipline of business administration, as well as three professional degree authorization points for Master of Business Administration (MBA, including Executive MBA), Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc), and Master of Tourism Administration (MTA). It is the earliest institution in Guangxi to offer MBA program and currently the only one in Guangxi to provide EMBA program.
The faculty of the school includes experts who enjoy special allowances from the State Council, national advanced accounting professionals, young experts in national tourism, outstanding experts in Guangxi province, candidates for the second tier of Guangxi's "New Century Hundred-Thousand-Talent Project", and “Junwu“ scholars from Guangxi University. The school has established relatively complete teaching, research, and experimental facilities. The Economics and Management Experimental Center is a key laboratory in Guangxi universities and the first national-level experimental teaching demonstration center for economics and management in Guangxi.
The school has distinct characteristics and advantages in innovation and entrepreneurship education. As the hosting school of the Guangxi University Student Entrepreneurship Incubation Base, it has frequently received honors in worldwide and national student competitions. In 2016, our representative team won the championship in the China division and the third place in the global finals of the International Enterprise Management Challenge. In 2018, we won the championship in the first International University Cheerleading Championship. In 2021 and 2022, our representative team consecutively took the second place in the international finals of the 41st and 42nd International Enterprise Management Challenges.
Over the years, the school has established a complete discipline structure, with outstanding faculty and sound teaching and research system, cultivating over 30,000 undergraduates, master's, and doctoral talents. Alumni are distributed globally and active in politics, business, and academia, serving as an important force in promoting social development and progress. Looking ahead, the school will be based in Guangxi, oriented towards ASEAN, and radiate globally, promoting high-quality transformation and development in digitization and dual carbonization, striving to build a first-tier business school in the new era.
